Hot Spot Detection in Coal Piles
The storage of coal in large piles (stockyards) carries with it the risk of spontaneous combustion. Types of more volatile coal are being mined and stored more frequently, increasing the likelihood of hotspots forming, which undetected could lead to the onset of fire. An early warning system that continuously monitors (not periodic spot measurement) the entire storage area, provides the best possible way of detecting these hotspots.
The Coal Pile Fire Monitor provides continuous, fully automated operation - the result being high resolution, high accuracy thermal images combined with digital data transmission. In the control room, the entire scanning view (displayed on monitors) is shown as a thermal picture, the clearly identified hotspots activating the simple pre-programmed alarms to ensure immediate action is taken to prevent the onset of fire.
